A process chain from preform sterilisation to closing: that's how the Contipure AseptBloc works. According to Krones, around 90% of the company's aseptic fillers are currently integrated in this BLOC solution. Previously, this type of system was mainly used in the medium and high flow range, but there is now also a compact version that enables outputs of up to 8,000 containers an hour to be filled economically.
‘The basis for expanding the range was provided by a further development of the stretch blow-moulding technology: two years ago, Krones launched a new generation of its Contiform blow-moulding machine, which for the first time also enabled four, six and eight-cavity configurations. The filling technology team also perfected its existing aseptic filling system, again focusing on low output, and finally combined the two systems in a compact version called the Contipure AseptBloc,' explains Krones, highlighting the block's small footprint.
Indeed, this compact version contains a four-cavity blow-moulder and a filler with a 1,080 mm pitch circle. It currently requires only around 100 square metres of installation space, ‘with the potential to save even more space’, says Krones. This extremely small footprint can be achieved, for example, by a redesigned cleanroom concept, optimised positioning of peripherals such as fluid supply or valve manifolds, and integration of the piping directly into the system. Thanks to its well-engineered design, this system can be used in a wide variety of applications.
Thanks to its well-engineered design, the compact version of the Contipure AseptBloc is ideal for companies with limited space available for production - whether installing a new line or upgrading the blow-moulding and filling machines in an existing aseptic system,’ explains Thekla Osswald, who is leading the project on the R&D team.
The compact version of the Contipure AseptBloc is suitable for a wide variety of product categories. Whether distributed at room ambient temperature or in the cold chain, whether low or high acidity, with or without pieces up to 5 x 5 x 5 millimetres, all non-carbonated beverages such as juices or dairy products can be processed on the installation.
