GOOD LOOP by Babcock Wanson, launched in 2022, cuts NOx emissions with innovative flue gas recirculation. Proven results show emissions far below strict limits. Discover more!

Reducing NOx (nitrogen oxide) emissions: that's the key principle behind GOOD LOOP, developed by Babcock Wanson's combustion department. How is the product performing two years after its launch? Here are some examples collected by Babcock Wanson.

Exhibitor at Djazagro, Babcock Wanson has published on its website a progress report on GOOD LOOP, a product launched in 2022, supported by ADEME and based on an internal flue gas recirculation system. GOOD LOOP is designed as a compact kit, positioned ahead of the economiser. Its originality resides in the direct injection of recycled flue gases into the combustion chamber by a dedicated additional fan.

Two years after launching this new product on the market, Babcock Wanson can provide the first feedback, based on a concrete example: ‘Last March, our Dutch subsidiary Reputabel supplied one of its customers in the food industry with an NBWB 100A boiler with an Optimo 1-CN burner and fitted with the GOOD LOOP kit. Given the very strict regulations on Nox emissions in the Netherlands, the Nox emission targets for this natural gas-fired firetube boiler had been set at 70 mg/Nm3. The results measured are very satisfying, with levels below 65 mg/Nm3’, says Babcock Wanson, concluding that ‘the GOOD LOOP concept is an innovative and effective solution for reducing nitrogen dioxide emissions’.

Babcock Wanson also reports positive experience with an NBWB 200A boiler fitted with an Optimo 1-EQ burner and the GOOD LOOP kit. Although this fire-tube boiler runs on kerosene, the presence of GOOD LOOP enabled NOx emissions to be reduced to below 130 mg/Nm3, well below the initial target of 150 mg/Nm3.
