What's the current state of packaging in Algeria?
For the moment, plastic and cardboard still dominate, for reasons of raw material availability, production costs and consumer habits. But even if metal and glass are still less widely used, their growth potential remains real.
75,000: that's the (impressive) number of companies active in the packaging sector, according to the latest study on food safety in Algeria, published by PWC after Djazagro 2023. More than ever, packaging is a key sector in the food industry, and the main players (local and international) in the Algerian market will be present at the 2025 edition of Djazagro, as they are every year.
This presence is all the more important given that these sectors are currently undergoing a veritable revolution, in the wake of the EPR (Extended Corporate Responsibility) policies adopted by many countries to reduce the environmental impact of waste and promote a circular economy. This trend is obliging producers to take account of new regulatory requirements, particularly for their products intended for export.
Now, more than ever, information and updates are needed to take advantage of growth opportunities.
There's only one place to meet: from 7 to 10 April 2025 at the Safex exhibition center in Algiers, with a large number of exhibitors representing the packaging industry.
You can also discover the Djaz'Pack exhibition, which explores the world of packaging in all its facets.
The Expert's Agora conference programme is also online, including a workshop on recycled packaging.
